DESCRIPTION: Clocks- 3 (Three): American shelf clocks: (1) Jared Arnold, Jr., Amber, NY, triple decker shelf clock with a weight driven, 8 day, time and strike strap brass movement in a mahogany veneered case with a carved eagle splat., c 1838; (2) T. M. Roberts (for Henry Hart), Bristol, Conn., carved column and splat shelf clock with a weight driven 30 hour time and strike wood movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1835. (3) Birge & Gilbert, Bristol, Conn., full column and carved splat shelf clock with a weight driven, 8 day, time and strike strap brass movement in a mahogany veneered case, c1838.
CONDITION: (1) The case has significant veneer loss. The original painted dial has multiple horizontal loss lines. The hands are missing. The center door mirror is broken. The original lower glass shows loss. No weights; (2) The case has an old finish and has veneer loss is several areas. The original painted dial has horizontal loss lines. No weights. (3) There is veneer loss in several areas. The original painted dial is in excellent condition. The hands are original. The center tablet is mostly gone. The original lower tablet is intact with some loss. No weights. ***NOTES*** The dimensions are for clock number 1.
